MY TOP FIVE
The word “music,” when we hear it, gives a thrill and tingling sensation throughout our body. It gives us a feeling of being under a spell. Music is like a magic. It draws people attention towards it all the time. Music has bestowed our world with its colorful tune and wonderful songs no matter what, good days or bad days, happy or sad days. It has been with us for an ages like our true friend to share our ups and downs life. Music has been passed to us by our ancestors, from generation to generation. Music is such a wonder, trying to make this world beautiful, better place and worth living. It is hard to describe it in one simple word. There are various kind of music like romantic, soft, hard, hip hop, and many more but I like romantic, soft and touching song, and patriotic songs. Different people like different songs. As for me, my top five are tu mile dil khile , tsewei ama, ye mere wantan ke logo, ngatso phayul, and yaaro dosti.
The song “tu mile dil khile” means “my heart blossoms whenever I am with you”. This song is from a Hindi movie (criminal )played by Monesha Koirala and Vankatash (south Indian actor). It was released in the ninety`s. It`s a romantic song. This song has such a wonderful words and was sung a by great singer, Gopi Krishna Muti. This melodic song gives me a serene feeling and simultaneously make me want to be in love even though I` m not . The importance of this song to me is that it taught me great deal about a love when I was young, like how people behave when they are in love, how they sacrifice for each other and how life seems beautiful when you are in love. Love is such a wonderful thing that happens in human life. You feel like you are in seventh heaven. Love is needed in every one`s life and without “It” it is hard to survive in this world. When there is love, you can feel excitement, happiness in the air. You feel safe and secure when you know there is someone who loves you truly. There always been a love or romantic song to encourage people to be in love or make them want to taste a bit of love live. Romantic songs take you to the fantasy world of happily ever after or happy ending. It has such a power to draw our attention to them. Songs make it much more easier to understand true meaning of love. Here, I am taking about love between couples but there is also a kind of which you feel for your mother.
I love my mother a lot like everyone does. So, I get carried away so fast if there is a good song on mother. Songs about mothers are always soft and touching. My favorite song is “Tsewei Ama,” which means “my beloved mom” in Tibetan. The singers name is Tenzin Namgyal. It was released in between 1997 to 1999. This song is so beautifully created that it moves one`s heart and makes them feel grateful of their mother more than ever they do. This song means a lot to me personally because I live in a boarding school. I can rearly see my mother, only see her once a year. My mom sent me to the boarding school to get better academic knowledge but I took that in a different way. And I hate boarding school so much that in a fit of anger I told my mother how I hate her for sending me to the that school. I was like 10 or 11 years old. I didn`t know the propose of sending me to the hostel. So then this song got release I tells about how great mothers are, how they sacrifice their sleep to get us to sleep, how much trouble they take undergo to bring a mere smile on our face. Mother is such the holiest and sweetest word in the whole world. Mothers sacrifices their youth in bringing us up and trying to give us everything that we want, even if she can only afford an old pair of cloth only. This song also tells us that without mothers, we are nothing. They are the one who will be there for us in each and every steps of our life to support us, encourage us and to show us the right path of a life. They are the first teacher of our lives. From them, we learn lessons of life(to be kind , honest, benevolent etc). I think, making songs on mother is a good thing it shows how important mothers are.
Beside, romantic and soft and touchy songs I also love patriotic songs. The song “Ye Mere Watan Ke Logo” which means “my fellow citizen”. This song was sung by the greatest Indian singer, Lata Magheshker. The song was written after the Karkil War (between Pakistan and India).During that war so many brave soldiers were killed. That war was a massacre of lives . So, this song was written to pay tribute to the freedom fighters. This song tells us how those brave had laid down their lives to give us a better and safe nation to enjoy. How many families had lost their relatives(son, brother, husband, father and brother in law). This song grieves for all those lost souls and also thank those brave soldiers for giving us victory at that war. This song is a one of the masterpiece song of Lata Magheshker. The significance of this song in my life is that it inspire me never to give up. I am Tibetan. And Tibetans are refugees. Listening to this song awaken a sense of patriotism in me all the time. I feel like we (Tibetan ) also can get freedom one day soon if we keep on fighting like my fellow Indian brothers did. Getting a country back is a very important for refugee.
Music is a mingle of so many types of songs. World without music is impossible to imagine. Music make us feel relax ,calm and stress free mind. Music gives us a way to express our self our mood (happy , sad, bad, good, excitement). Music has brought a rainbow color down on earth to feel and sense. Songs are like by everyone (young , old, small, big, men or women). Thank those who had brought light into our live with music.

WHAT WOULD I SAY
We human beings are ambitious and greedy in some ways. When we have nothing ,we pray for something small, but when we get it, we pray for more things. We are never satisfied and content with what we have. We like other people`s possession and would like to be other people though we have enough and we are good enough to survive in this world. But our demand and anticipation in accumulating more never ends. If we think we are lacking in something, then we always look back in our past and blame that time for being so crucial to make the right decision. I am quite sure most people do it. I also feel I could make a differences if I can go back in a past and talk to myself, give right advice and change my life from what it is now.
If I could ever get a chance to go back in a past ,what I would say to myself that question stuck me all the time. I have so many to say to myself that I don’t know where to start .But I don’t think I have to worry about it because I could share heart to heart with myself without any hesitation. I think I can be a friend with myself and alleviate some of the burden I am carrying inside. I could share with myself and lighten up my heart a bit (like a confession). I want to ask my past self what she think of me right now? If this is what she expected me to become? I know it is not, but I want to hear from myself so that I can get the encouragement and confidence I used to have. I want to tell her where I made a mistakes and what went wrong. So many things have happened in my life which I had never dreamed possible.
I want her to know that I did what was possible to do to make her dream come true but some matters are out of my control. I did my best to become a doctor which used to be my childhood dream but I have failed. So, if I ever get an opportunity to talk to my past then I really like to apologize to her if I have disappointed her, I want to explain why I failed to become what she wish me to become. I failed not because I was incapable of doing it but it was because of these few reasons: family`s financial problems, distractions, moreover letting someone to make a decision for you. About the financial thing even if my parent could afford it but I was told to be stay nearby my home town which means I can`t go in science line. To be on a science line back in our country one have to go far from their home town. At that time I was dealing with the matter about coming here in America that’s why my uncle told me not to go far from my home. He said that he wants me nearby when I will be asked for an interview and which never happened until three years later. It is obvious that if I have to meet her then she doesn`t know about this part and she is yet go through the hard part of life. She still have a chance to make right choice in her life. I `ll tell her if she ever get a chance to make a different or could make a different then never to make a decision which I had made, never to follow my footsteps, never let anyone to make a decision for you. Make a choice from your heart though you will face a problem never break down. There will be way if you look around to solve it. Never think anything is impossible. Remember that everything is possible in this world if you really wish for it and work for it. Nothing is impossible like I said even impossible says I `m possible. These are the thing which I like to advice her.
If I ever get this lucky to relive my past then I will definitely going to follow what I want to advice my past as I mention it above and make a different in my life. It is not that I `m not happy with what I am doing now but there is still unsatisfaction . It is not like that I am not moving towards my childhood ambition . I just took my first step toward it, I am here in America which is called a land of opportunity. Now I am here and trying to become what I wanted to for all my life. I have many more years to accomplish it though. That’s why I keep thinking if I would have made a right choice at right time then I would be on my half way toward my dream. I wouldn`t have wasted my valuable time on something which I never wanted to study. I want to make my parent proud of me and I want that to happen in few years. It is so frustrating to know that I have to wait like eight years to accomplish my dream. So, if I get a chance to go to my past then I will definitely change few thing to make big changes in my life.
Like everyone else I want my life to be perfect, perfect job, perfect salary ,perfect everything . I know how hard it is to come from poor family. I am not ashame of sharing it. I`m from poor family that why I want to become someone and get a decent job with decent salary as soon as possible. I am not being greedy but life without nothing is also hard to survive. So, how I wish to go to my past and relive it.

MY MOST MEMORABLE EVENTS
The world is very funny and amazing place live in. It is full of surprises and events. Everyday is a new start with new experiences. Everyday something different happens in our life. It can be sweet or sour. We human being go through some bad days and some good days. It is all up to us how we acknowledge it, how we name it or give it any importance or not. We can create events or happens in our life every passing minute but the thing is that do we remember each and every minute of our life. No, we won`t be able to keep every detail in our brain but we can keep the important ones. The one which remind us of our past the most which we consider as most memorial events. Most important events of my life are: when I left my country, my first few days in America, and when I had my surgery.
The most shocking day of my life was that when I learned that I got visa for America. We (I,my sister and my mom) lost our hope on it because we waited like for three or four years but nothing came out. So, I was having a normal life with my friends, my boyfriend, and relatives without expecting anything. One day my mom called me and said we got it. I was in boarding school at that time giving my high school final examination. I was happy and excited but at the same time I was sad about leaving all my friends , relative and specially my boyfriend behind. I didn`t know how to break that news to them and when I did it was most heart breaking or say emotional day of my life. Each and everyone of us was crying and hugging. Before I leave school they threw a small party for me and gave me a lot of things to remember them. It was such a nice day to see that I have all these good friend all my years unfortunately have to leave them behind simultaneously. I left my school and went home. The day to fly came I called my boyfriend and my friends to say final goodbye in a hope of having a bright future ahead.Like that I landed up in dreamland of ambition America.
My first step in America is not at all exciting. I was scared as I can’t speak that much of English, new people, new environment and new style. I was so nervous. I was rolling down my baggage and having hard time driving it. I didn’t do anything but a guy looked at me and said “ don’t you know how to drive”. I was so timid at that time and afraid of answering him back. I have to hold my tongue to answer him back feeling that I won`t be any use. I felt utterly desperate to return back seeing such thing. Its like first day and I am being welcome like this. I forgot all the excitement about being in America and started missing my country, friends and everything. I felt that my life is going to be in hell here but I was wrong. Instead I start to like it though I miss my country. I like it in different way. It offer so much help and has so many opportunity to make one life worthwell.
After a month, I had to go to hospital for check up. I learned that I have stone in my gall bladder and have to remove that. I got panic because at that time I didn’t have any job and can`t pay for surgery. But luckily I got help from health welfare from here. I went back to the hospital to make sure i am having that problem. They doctor said I have to take out my gall bladder otherwise the stone going to come back again and again. I cried a lot but agreed to do so. I got my surgery appointment and the day came. That was most frightening part. The doctors in the surgery room was comforting but I was crying seeing all those surgical thing infront of me. The lady doctor gave me a injection to make me fall sleep. And the last thing I remember was that I was being taken from surgery room and my family sitting around me. looking all worried. Their face and the thing they said were the most memorable thing.
Everybody has their own memorable days likewise I have mine too. They are all those thing that I describe above. Events happens in every people life. It depends on us how we make them memorable. Memorable day can be happy one or sad one. Memorable days are those which we remember most clearly than other events which happens every minute in our life. So, because of these events I can remember how I came here so far. Under what I been through.

CENSORSHIP

CENSORSHIP
The word “censorship” origin from The Latin. There is a quote by Voltaire saying “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to death your right to say it. It means I will lay down my life to protect your right of speech though i`m against what you say. Censorship can describe in many ways. In its broadest sense it refers to suppression of information, ideas, or artistic expression by anyone, whether government officials, church authorities, private pressure groups or, speaker, writers, artists themselves. In its narrower more legalistic sense, censorship means only the prevention by official government action of circulation of messages already produced. There are many examples of censorship such as internet pornography, music censorship, book censorship, art censorship and so on. Censorship is enacted whenever there is a threat to the nation or community, children, morality and religion. Censorship in my opinion, is a restriction against human to express themselves freely. Censorship in the arts are very severe cases, I think that artists live life to reach peoples heart through their music, songs or works. It is more or less like cutting down their sole purpose of life. They will be , the saying goes, “a bird without wings”. Some example of the artists who had been censored include Dmitris Shostakovich, Dixies Chicks` and Rock Superstars.
Dmitris Shostakovich was one of the most famous composers of the twethieth century. He was born on December 25, 1906, in Peterburg, Russia. In 1925, he wrote his symphony no.1 a final exam piece, and it gave him worldwide recognition. In 1934, Shostakovich wrote an opera called Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. It was censored by the Soviet Union`s leader, Joseph Stalin. At that time lives were difficult in Russia after 1917, and part of the Soviet Union was under strict, totalitarian rule. The government monitored almost everything people did, even creative activities like music. Dmitris was severely criticized by Prada official government newspaper, and the opera wasn`t performed until 1963. In my opinion, life at the time was like being in the prison where people were being watch in everything they do in their private and public life. Government can`t censor things just like that at their whim.
The Dexie Chicks` were censored in March 2003. During the Dexie Chicks 2003 top of the world tour, Natalie Manies created a moment of shock when she told British cencergoers: “just so you know, we `re on the good side with you all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we`re ashamed that The President of United State is from Texas.” Because of this statement chicks were censored. Censorship was supported by government and publics. Ex-fans destroyed chicks cds during that time. Chicks were also called traitor and communist, and they confronted a death threat at a Dallas performance. Later on, trio got a letter saying to shoot Manies in the same city where John Kennedy had been shot years earlier. Maines didn`t even care make excuse about her comment. She also commented that “I feel the president is ignoring the opinion of many U.S. and alienating the rest of the world. My comments were made in frustration and one of the privilages of the American is you are free to voice your point of view. In 2007 chicks got five prizes at the 49th annual grammy awards in USA. It was the victory over censorship , boycott and threats when Dexies took most of the prestigious honours in the global music calendar, Grammy awards. I believe that music is a way by which musician express their feelings and themselves. If you censor it, then it is only going to jeopardize their career , and also their life from them.
On febuary 5,2006. Rock music veretans, the rolling stones, were censored during their performance at the Super Bowl on the most watch events on US tv. The Rolling Stone were having 12 minute performance in front of 65,000 crowd people and 90 million viewer. The Super Bowl game started with song “start me up” followed by the rough justice and ending with “I can`t get up”. The lyric were too sexually explicit to be broadcast and they were cut from the show. Censorship of this song is right thing to do. Though I am not supportive of censorship but if they lyric contain unwanted and nasty language then I think it is best idea. Children gets effected by such things. Their mind are very fresh and pure, so I am against if something can brain wash it. Not only children, thousands of people were listening to the songs with their family. So, it was right thing to censor if the songs have improper lyric.
Censorship has taken place in many countries, if not about then about pronoghraphy, books, or religion. But it has taken place in many nations. Censorship has its own pros and cons. It helps us to keep our nation save from leaking secret information into the hand of other Nations, protect country from outer dangers, helps to keep children from the things that could brain wash their mind, and save community from social degradation. Its cons are limits public rights, which may result in protest or violation by people. There will be conflict within a Nation. It is very hard to imagine a world without music. Can you imagine a world where authority decide what people may play, sing or listen. People having no right to decide on their own. And yes such world exists. In more countries you might imagine, musician and composer are threat which is growing. So, in such cases don`t you think people will ask for their rights sooner or later. In a countries like china, Sudan violation of musician`s rights to freedom of expression are comm. Place. Thus, it need a lot of thinking censoring. Censorship is needed but also the rights.
